A Look into the Winter Season

With E3 come and gone back in June, they announced many new and returning titles coming to gamers within the next coming months.

Releases announced start hitting shelves on September 27th with the release of Forza Horizon 3, Playground Games anticipated sequel to Forza Horizon 2. FH3 puts you on the spectacularly visually beautiful continent of Australia. With a car inventory spanning more that 350 cars from all over the world, the massive open free roam and seemless co-op drop in system, and even the ability to do your personal single player campaign with friends. Playground has definitely outdone themselves.

Next on our list, we find ourselves nearing the end of October, with a couple of big titles and a return to a mass favorite. To start us off, we have Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on Oct. 25th for all the fans of the long time series (myself included).

Just a couple of short days later, both Titanfall 2 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition come to stores on Oct. 28th. At the moment, Titanfall 2 is under heavy criticism and bashing by many of the series’ more hardcore players. Post from forums, such as Reddit, has many players upset by the many changes from the first game to the second. Changes include no AI bots in the game modes, not enough wall running, and even that the titans were severely sponged, making them do less damage and die quicker as a result. Respawn Entertainment has issued a reply to the mass, stating that they are taking the feedback under consideration and will try to fix it by the games release.

Final Fantasy XV has been the game that has been in development for over a decade. Also the make or break game for the franchise. Fans were excited for the initial release of September 30th, that is until last week, when Square Enix announced that they were delaying the game until November 29th. The reason for this, according to them, is so they can make sure the game is as perfect as they can make it for the player. I’m all for a game getting pushed back a bit if it means a better game in the end.

To wrap up our season, 2 more games will be released in early December. Both South Park: The Fractured But Whole and Dead Rising 4 come out on December 4th and 6th, respectively. South Park: TFBW is the sequel to the award-winning tittle South Park: The Stick of Truth. Both are highly praised by critics for their turned based RPG play style, comparing to the older Final Fantasy games.

In Dead Rising 4, it’s Christmas time in Willamette, time to deck the halls with some zombie balls! The return of Frank West, photojournalist and wrestler, to where it all began. Keeping true to its past, Dead Rising focuses on zombie killing in some of the most ridiculous and humorous ways. With the addition of the Exo Suit, you can pull parking meters out of the ground and bash away!

This rounds up my look into the Winter gaming schedule! If I missed any, my apologies. Make sure to let me know in the comments!
