Since Fallout 4’s release back in November 2015, Bethesda has been very busy keeping the secrets of the Wasteland’s depths under wraps keeping all of us gamers wanting more.
The Nuka-World DLC is making its way to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on August 30th. It will mark the 6th and final DLC for the post-apocalyptic RPG.
Fallout’s story has always been driven around you, the Vault Dweller. In Fallout 4, you are living in Massachusetts in the year 2077. All is peaceful, yet another day with your spouse and newborn son, life is perfect, right?
Soon, everything gets thrown into absolute chaos as you and your family are gathered around the TV, and you all see the announcement that the bombs have been dropped. You make it to Vault 111 just as a nuke is dropped, narrowly escaping the blast radius. The Dweller and their family get set up in the vault, soon to be cryogenically frozen. You are then soon woken up to see a couple of mysterious figures unfreezing your spouse and son only to murder your significant other and proceed to take your son with them. The mysterious figure refreezes the Dweller and you then wake up years later, looking to avenge your family.
Stepping into the Wasteland for the first time, I knew that I’d be lost in Fallout 4’s eerie beauty and in-depth world for many hours to come. Bethesda has also helped that by releasing, not just 2 or 3, but 6 DLC packs altogether.
Their first DLC, Automatron, released March 2016, bringing a whole new story with the ability to make your own robot companion out of hundreds of different robot parts.
The second DLC, Wasteland Workshop, released April 2016. It came out for free for all players of the game, and brought a plethora of extra settlement building objects and miscellaneous items for the Dweller to spruce up their homes.
DLC 3 was Far Harbor, Bethesda’s biggest DLC map to any game they have ever made, only being beat out by Fallout 4’s original map. This DLC throws you into the foggy and dark island of Far Harbor, north of the original setting of the Commonwealth, on the coast of Maine. Far Harbor has brought a bunch or new creatures, weapons, and even a new companion by the name of Old Longfellow. Disgruntled and aged by the Wastes, Old Longfellow has your back.
The 4th and 5th DLCs, Contraptions Workshop and Vault-Tec Workshops were released in June and July 2016, respectively. Contraptions workshop brought many new toys to the workshop benches such as, elevators, conveyor belts, and even a pillory for the bad settlers. The Vault-Tec update brought some new quests and the ability to become an Overseer of your own custom built vault!
The final expansion, Nuka-World, will take you to the aptly named theme park, where Raiders have taken over. Also bringing new weapons and creatures, Nuka-World will give the players a whole new feature, the ability to run your own raider gang across the Commonwealth, bending the world to your whims. The map will feature several different areas including Safari Adventure, Galactic Zone, and more.
With Nuka-World’s release coming on August 30th and Bethesda having no announcements of another Fallout (or even Elder Scrolls) being in production at this time, one can only hope that the final update will suffice the players until the next installment is released.
